The PKM Team from Udayana University Provides Health Education for the PKK of Banjar Sengguan, Kaba-Kaba Village, Tabanan General

The Community Service Team of Udayana University, through funding from the Research and Community Service Program of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology for the 2025 Fiscal Year, organized a health education activity with the theme “Technology-Based Educational Model for PKK Groups in Assisting the Fulfillment of Basic Needs of Post-Hospitalization Patients.” The event was held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Banjar Sengguan Hall, Kaba-Kaba Village, Kediri Subdistrict, Tabanan Regency, and was attended by more than 100 members of the local PKK group.


The event was officially opened by the Head of the Community Service Team, Ns. Ni Putu Emy Darma Yanti, S.Kep., M.Kep., who expressed her hope that the activity would bring tangible benefits, especially to the PKK of Banjar Sengguan, Kaba-Kaba Village. “This activity aims to enhance the capacity of PKK members in supporting post-hospitalization patients at home through technology-based education, to develop practical and accessible educational media, and to foster an active role model of PKK groups as the forefront of community-based health education,” said Ns. Emy.


The health education session was held in collaboration with students from the Community-Based Learning Program (KKN-PPM) Batch XXXI of Udayana University and featured Dr. Ns. Made Oka Ari Kamayani, S.Kep., M.Kep., a lecturer from the Nursing Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, as the first speaker. He delivered a session on “Fulfilling Basic Needs of Patients After Hospital Care” and conducted an engaging simulation using a manikin as a demonstration tool. Participants showed great enthusiasm and actively engaged in discussions. Another important topic, “The Importance of Digital Literacy for PKK Groups,” was presented by the Team Leader, Ns. Ni Putu Emy Darma Yanti, S.Kep., M.Kep., through an educational video, followed by a knowledge assessment questionnaire for PKK members as part of the evaluation process.


In addition to the health education session, the activity also included the distribution of health equipment to the PKK Group, witnessed by the Head of Banjar Sengguan. The aid included urinals, oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, walkers, anti-decubitus mattresses, masks, gloves, and first-aid kits, all of which are intended to be used by any PKK member in need. “We sincerely thank you for the assistance provided. It will undoubtedly be beneficial for the community of Banjar Sengguan, Kaba-Kaba. We hope activities like this will continue in the future,” said the Head of Banjar Sengguan in his remarks.


Through this community service initiative, Udayana University continues to strengthen its commitment to fulfilling the Tri Dharma of Higher Education by reaching out to communities, including local groups, as part of a sustainable health development effort.
